West Canada | a world apart...

[work in progress] ~ more information will be added...

Western Canada, also referred to as the Western provinces and commonly as the West, is a region of Canada generally including all parts of Canada west of the province of Ontario. Geographicly this doesn´t make sense offcourse, because in that case the province of Manitoba would be central Canada.
However Ontario and Quebec, housing some of the major cities of Canada and offcourse the government, like to think they are the centre of Canada. With that in mind it does make sense, and that is why West Canada are the four provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
In some contexts, the term Western Canada may also include the territories of Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, although these are now more commonly grouped as the distinct region of Northern Canada.

For the moment www.west-canada.com will however be focussing on British Columbia and Alberta, often known as the Mountain Provinces. This due to the fact that this website is a one-man project and i simply have to start somewhere. Much of the information on this website applies to the whole country of Canada though.

The idea for www.west-canada.com started with me traveling to Canada and browsing the internet for any useful information. A lot can be found already, but often scattered all around the place. I also had to rely on 'good old books' on many occasions. My later interest in moving to Canada added value to the idea. Voila www.west-canada.com was born. It ought to be your one-stop resource for any information on the country of Canada, traveling to Canada, and working and living in Canada. If the website hasn't got the information you're looking for, it can at least point you in the right direction with the use of an extensive link library full of other Canada websites.

A website of this magnitude will offcourse never be finished and at this moment it's just starting up. If you find any shortcomings or have tips and advice, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I hope you have good use for the website and have fun doing so!
